27 Apr Building Socioboard 3.0 Crossplatform OpenSource using C# 6.0 and .NET Core
Microsoft released its .NET platform as open source around Nov 2014 which was a big relief for us and now we could stop focussing on posting Socioboard’s codebase to Mono to run it on Linux and finally focus on using the official version to build Socioboard’s cross-platform code on.
So we decided to build Socioboard’s 3.0 release on .NET Core and ASP.NET MVC 5
Socioboard 2.0’s-2.5’s current code is on ASP.NET MVC 4.
I will watch how .NET core evolves as a project and keep you all updated on how we evolve socioboard along with it. This will prolly take an year, no dates for the release in mind but yeah this is added to our roadmap now.
Update Nov 19th, 2015 –
Finally, it looks like ASP.NET Core team has released RC1. We shall begin programming using this RC code. I hope ASP.NET releases the product quality RTM version soon and we can release Socioboard 3.0 on top of it.
This release has some cool features implemented , check it out here –
Update May 16th 2016
Microsoft has released another update today. ASP.NET RC2 is finally out. We have already written a lot of Socioboard 3.0 code targeting RC1. We will try to run the same codes on RC2 and see if there are any breaking changes.
The estimated release date for Socioboard 3.0 will be June 30th.
